PWN President Joy Medos usually celebrates the year's accomplishments with the rare indulgence of a truffle pizza accompanied by a glass of champagne at a pizzeria in the first district (one that donates a portion of their profits to a charity).

This special meal reminds her of how far she has come - as a child she remembers watching Italian TV and seeing all the delicacies, and hoping that one day she would be able to afford them herself.

For her, eating truffle pizza with a glass of champagne recalls warm memories, and is a reminder that with perseverance many things are possible, simply by believing in one's self.

Food is never just food. Food is history. It is tradition. It is memories. And very often, food is love ❤️

For President Claudia Cordie, Baci di Dama , eaten with a cup of Bicerin ☕, is all of these things.

At Christmastime 🎄 Claudia’s father used to take her family to one of the oldest and most historic cafés in Turin, Cafe al Bicerin, to drink the titular beverage accompanied by Baci di Dama, also known as ‘Lady’s Kisses’, which is two hazelnut cookies joined together by chocolate🍫.

She and her family would sit outside in the cold, enjoying every sip of the warm, sweet treat while enjoying Turin’s famous “Luci d’Artista/Lights of Artist”.

But her warmest memories are of seeing her father, who never missed an opportunity to help those less fortunate, offer the beggers, who took refuge next to the church money or something warm to drink ☕.

Claudia’s Christmas tradition is one of many that will have to be missed this year. So prepare the holiday food and drink that brings you warm memories, and let’s raise a toast to our loved ones and feel close to them, even if from far away.
