Dear PWN Vienna Members and Friends,

A lot has gone on in the two weeks since the last newsletter - the headlines have been filled with coverage of the Black Lives Matter protests occurring not just in the US but around the world, including the 50,000 strong protest here in Vienna.

With today's newsletter, before highlighting upcoming events, we want to share a message from PWN Global's Co-Presidents regarding diversity within gender, and PWN Vienna's plan for being actively engaged in fighting racism, discrimination, and unconscious bias.

In an article posted to PWN Global's LinkedIn page Co-Presidents Shelia Gemin and Carina Furlong write "PWN Global is an inclusive community that welcomes men and women from any and all backgrounds. Our primary focus is to accelerate gender balanced leadership in business and society. What we have never really addressed is the fact that women with a different skin colour or cultural background may face additional challenges in terms of career development and opportunity." The article then goes on to share both their perspectives on this matter.

In a local effort to include advancing diversity in addition to gender balance, the PWN Vienna is looking into a Webinar, or if possible a live Workshop, on how each of us can play an active role in creating equality. We will post on our website and the usual social media channels as soon as we have something scheduled.

Additionally, PWN London is holding a free, online Webinar on 25 June at 18:30 addressing this topic titled 'Finding, Attracting, Hiring and Retaining Diverse Talent' that is open to all PWN Premium members. (If you can't attend live, consider signing up anyway to have access to the recording).

And to round out our support for advancing tolerance of all races, religions, nationalities, backgrounds and genders, we want to highlight that June is Pride Month in Vienna - here is a link to one of the many sites highlighting activities that are still going on, despite the Covid crisis.

We hope you are sitting comfortably somewhere reading this - there's more!

PWN Vienna's final Webinar before the summer break is on Monday 15 June by Dr. Marietta Babos titled 'Own Your Financial Future: Know Your Options and Act Now' . It focuses on how important it is to take control of one's personal finances immediately, rather that 'sometime' in the future.

Because gaining financial independence is an important topic for many women, we are happy to announce a second free online event on 23 June titled 'SHEvest - Money Talks', this time sponsored by SHEconomy and the WU Executive Academy. The focus is why 'exploring different forms of investment is not only about feeling financially secure after retiring, but also about autonomy and freedom.' Click here to learn more and to register!

One of the cornerstones of PWN Vienna, the Mentoring Program, is holding its closing event for the 2019/2020 Mentors and Mentees on 25 June - and although it will be held via Zoom, it is expected to be just as celebratory as in years past! Many of this year's participants, having experienced the benefits of the program, are also enrolling for the 2020/2021 session - if you are interested in joining as either a Mentor or a Mentee, apply here!

While there is a summer break for Webinars, we traditionally hold social events during July and August - stay connected via our Facebook and LinkedIn pages, or email us at share@pwnvienna.net!

Best Wishes for a Happy Week!

Kathryn
